About How It Works

Launched in October 2009, How It Works has impressed readers and experts with its accessible, innovative and visually stunning coverage of the worlds of science and technology.

Each issue comes packed with answers to questions such as 'What is a black hole' or 'How was the London Underground built', wonderful cutaway diagrams and full-colour illustrations, along with in-depth articles covering science, technology, transportation, history and the environment.

Every month How It Works answers hundreds of fascinating questions, educating and enlightening knowledge-hungry readers around the world

The success of How It Works has not gone unnoticed by the publishing industry either, and the magazine was nominated for the 2010 PPA Awards in the Best Consumer Specialist Magazine category after just four issues.

Recognition has also come from the scientific community, with support from the Science Museum and Natural History Museum and contributions from household names of science such as Professor Brian Cox, Adam Hart-Davis, Dr Alice Roberts and Lord Robert Winston.
