Teleportation comes a step closer

Dutch scientists have successfully teleported an atom three metres as the race to create a machine that can teleport humans steps up a gear.

Professor Hanson of Delft University of Technology led a team that managed to transfer information contained inside an atom three metres with 100 per cent accuracy, representing a huge leap forward in teleportation technology.

The transmission of the information showed that the theory of entanglement, where two particles directly influence each other, is a real phenomenon. This will hopefully allow future scientists to transfer multiple atoms across a space, finally resulting in humans being able to move great distances.
