Jam

iTunes was based on Soundjam MP, a Mac OS-based audio player made by Casady & Greene in 1999. The software was bought by Apple in 2000 and built upon.

4.0

iTunes didn’t have its now central store until V4.0, released in April 2003. The same year Apple included support for Microsoft’s Windows XP and 2000.

Support

Originally iTunes didn’t support playback of many traditional file formats, preferring to convert any inputted file into AAC (advanced audio coding).

Genius

One of the most interesting additions to iTunes is Genius. This is an interface integrated playlist creator, which generates a music list based on the user selecting a track.

Ping

The latest addition to the iTunes suite is Ping, a social media integration into user interface that allows users to follow artists and share with their friends.

Check out this video from National Geographic in which a liger supercat has been engineered by mating a male lion with a female tiger.

Click here to view the embedded video.

At 900 lbs, supercat Sinbad dwarfs the mighty Bengal Tiger’s average weight of 520 lbs, a full 380 lbs heavier. In fact, at 900 lbs, Sinbad weighs roughly the same as both his father and mother combined!

Despite a liger’s obvious physical dominance, they only exist in captivity as tigers and lions would never voluntarily mate in the wild, and further, live in different regions and environments. In addition, ligers tend to have short life spans as well as numerous health risks and defects when born, a process which often has to be undertook by cesarian.

The breeding of lions with tigers is not a new process, as records exist from the late 19th century in India documenting their existence, as well as historical evidence of two liger cubs exhibited to William IV in 1837.
