Breaking the 1,000mph barrier

Here at How it Works, we love breathtaking speed. For that reason we were mega excited when we saw these amazing images of the Bloodhound, a car bidding to break the 1,000mph barrier.

Costing a whopping £10 million to build, the Bristol based rocket powered car is made out of carbon fibre and an aluminium honeycomb core to make it both strong and lightweight.

The Bloodhound took a reported 10,000 hours to design and construct and will be put to action in 2015 in its attempt to make history.
