The bionic olympics

Reports suggest 2016 will see a new type of olympics: The bionic olympics

The competition will be also known as ‘the cybathalon’ and is designed to let people compete with human performance-enhancing technology. Events are mainly based on the track and will include brain controlled races and races with prosthetic limbs and exoskeletons. The brain controlled race in particular is intended for individuals who are paralysed from the neck down.

This sort of technology and these sort of events are currently not in the paralympics so this project is to spur an interest in the uses and benefits of robot assistance technology.

It will be hosted by the Swiss National Competence Centre of Research and will be held in Zurich in October 2016.
