Are bulls enraged by the colour red?

Bulls are not enraged by the colour red, but rather the movement of the matador’s cape. This has been unequivocally proved as trials have shown bulls are largely colour blind, and therefore the shade of the cape can in no way effect its mood.

In addition, it is also a myth that matadors just use a red cape when bull fighting, with two different colour schemes used. The ‘capote’, a larger magenta and yellow cape, is used for the majority of the fight, while the red ‘muleta’ is only used for the final, final confrontation.
