After you… Meet the robot holding open doors

Meet SpotMini, the four legged robot that is making the rounds on social media because of its chivalrous behaviour.

Created by Boston Dynamics, these Lassie sized robots weigh around 30kg and can run around from around 90 minutes before needing to plugged in to recharge. The SpotMini is a updated version of its ‘big brother’ bot Spot, in terms of it’s mobility and animal style locomotion. The new additions include of a five degree of freedom arm, which allows the courteous opening of doors, along with sensor suite and cameras for navigation. As an impressive piece of initiative engineering, the SpotMini could make a great house pet of the future, especially if you have your hands full.
