How It Works

What On Earth Is It? – #6

And rounding off this month’s guess-off is this. Aren’t they just adorable! Miniature star fish all huddled together. Oh I just LOVE them… erm, whoops, I wasn’t meant to tell you that.

Anyway, if you think you know what it really is, or – even better – you have a hilariously silly concept of what it might be (but definitely isn’t), drop us a line and get your suggestion printed in the magazine next month.

Clues R Us: Maybe taking a trip to the ‘beach’ and looking up at the ‘stars’ might reveal what these really are.

I have read about these before, they are known as Foraminifera and are ancient sea creatures found in marine conditions. I think the oil industry use them to date rocks and find new oil fields.
