Can you float in the Great Salt Lake?

To put it simply yes, yes you can. And here’s why.

There are around 4.5 billion tons of salt in the lake. This gives the water a density that is approximately ten times more than a normal ocean. This density is higher than the mass of a standard human so you become buoyant. The northern side of the lake is twice as salty as the south peaking at 28 per cent (compared to the Dead Sea’s 31 per cent). As long as the density and salinity is high enough, you can float in any large body of salt water.
